Luigi Mangione tracked Brian Thompson in New York City by first arriving in the city more than a week before the murder and then using a false identification to check into a hotel. He then performed reconnaissance around the victim’s hotel and the conference venue where Thompson was scheduled to speak. Mangione’s meticulous planning included using a bicycle to travel to the location of the murder on the morning of December 4, 2024.
